U.S. Biomass, LLC is a procurer and distributor of Miscanthus (Miscanthus x giganteus).  Miscanthus, or “elephant grass”, is a clean burning, high-value, environmentally friendly, renewable energy crop for utilization in combination with or replacing coal for power plants that generate heat and electricity.  Miscanthus can also be processed into ethanol, to be blended with petrol fuels.

U.S. Biomass, founded in 2006 by Mr. Joseph Brennan, is a Rutgers EcoComplex incubator company.  The Company plans to purchase Miscanthus from growers via pre-growth contracts that guarantee the rights to the growers’ entire crop.  It will then sell the clean burning power source to energy providers.  Initially the sales will be concentrated domestically.  However, eventually Mr. Brennan envisions an expansion of sales and service to all of North America and other points internationally.

Miscanthus’ use as a renewable energy source is wide spread in Europe, from Sicily to Sweden.  Much of the pioneering in this field was done in the United Kingdom, where this high yield annual harvest crop is growing in popularity as a profitable alternative crop.  U.S. Biomass is poised to introduce Miscanthus as a viable biofuel alternative to American energy providers.
