Metro BioFuels, LLC is completing development work at the Rutgers EcoComplex on their Pilot Plant that is intended to perform a rapid conversion of various vegetable oils into fatty acid methyl esters, commonly known called Biodiesel. The unique characteristic of their process design is that the conversion takes place in a matter of minutes rather than hours. The process is expected to run both efficiently and economically compared with other similar processes. Further biodiesel reduces CO2 emissions by 78% compared with petroleum diesel due to Biodiesel’s closed carbon cycle.
